The BGSG will use the 2013-2015 USA Volleyball (USAV) Beach Domestic Competition Regulations for all outdoor competitions (both sand and grass).

POINTS OF EMPHASIS:
1. **NEW**
Contact with the net by a player is not a fault, unless it interferes with the play.  A player interferes with the opponent’s play by (amongst others): touching the top band of the net or the top of the antenna during his/her action of playing the ball, or taking support from the net simultaneously with playing the ball, or creating an advantage over the opponent by touching the net, or making actions which hinder an opponent’s legitimate attempt to play the ball.  (USAV 11.3.1 & 11.4.3)
2. A player may enter into the opponent’s space, court and/or free zone, including from under the net, provided that this does not interfere with the opponent’s play. (USAV 11.2.1)
3. Double Contact: Double contact during the first team hit is legal provided that the contacts occur during one action and the ball is not played overhand using fingers. Momentarily held or double-contacted balls using overhand finger action from a hard-driven ball are not considered faults. Serves are by rule not hard-driven. When a player decides/intends to use overhand finger passes in the case of off-speed attack defense, setting, and serve receive, this is a set and must be “clean.” (USAV 9.2.2 & 9.2.3)
4. No open-hand tips or dinks (USAV 13.2.3)
5. Attack Hit Fault, Rule 13.2.5 applies to Doubles and Triples Competition only: a player intentionally completes an attack-hit using an over-hand set that gives the ball a trajectory not perpendicular to the line of the player’s shoulders except when setting his or her teammate.

Teams are responsible for officiating pool play matches. Failure to do so will result in points against for your next match, the severity of which is up to the discretion of the sport commissioner.

In an effort to be as fair as possible, our head referees will clarify any questions on game day and our court referees will remind each team captain of the skill expected before play begins.
