Letter to Coaches/Reminders for Volleyball

FORMAT

Six-match guarantee. Pool matches will begin Friday at 1:00 pm. There will be POOL PLAY for Saturday morning after Friday’s matches. Saturday matches will begin at 8 am. Tournament play will begin Sunday at 8 am with GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE divisions. ALL teams will be playing Sunday morning matches in tournament bracket play. Matches will be best 2-of-3 sets. First two sets to 21, cap at 23. Third set ONLY if necessary. Third set to 15, cap at 17.

We will begin matches up to 45 minutes early, as time allows. Please be ready to play.

The Friday pool play schedule will be posted as soon as possible following registration closing. The Saturday pool play schedule will be posted after the conclusion of play on Friday. The Sunday tournament bracket schedule will be posted after the conclusion of play on Saturday.

DIVISIONS

New for 2026…We have divided Varsity and Junior Varsity into subdivisions (3 for Varsity; 2 for Junior Varsity) to allow coaches and team managers to select the level of play that would be most appropriate for their team. The intent is to give teams as many competitive games throughout the weekend as possible. Teams may be moved from their preferred subdivision if needed to make the format work. You can find the subdivision descriptions in the “Divisions” section below.

ROSTERS

Teams DO NOT need to list rosters on the registration form until you show up for the tournament. Properly completed BGSG team entry forms, including parental signatures, are due at check-in 45 minutes prior to the team’s first scheduled game. There will be no limit on number of players listed on the team rosters. All players must be a member of the school’s Fall 2026 team. To participate in Junior Varsity, the player must be an 11th grader or less as of the fall of 2026. The KHSAA has ruled that volleyball is not subject to the scrimmage limitations and coaching restrictions. High school teams, together with their coaches, may participate in the BGSG and play WILL NOT count against the two scrimmage limitation nor does it count against tournament limitations.

Divisions

Division	Description
Varsity A	Equivalent to the “Open” division in club. For experienced programs seeking the most competitive matchups.
Varsity B	Equivalent to the “National” division in club. For programs looking to challenge themselves while continuing to grow and refine their play.
Varsity C	Equivalent to the “USA” division in club. For newer and rebuilding programs to work on confidence and skills in a competitive tournament environment.
Junior Varsity A	Equivalent to the “Open” division in club. For programs seeking the most competitive matchups.
Junior Varsity B	Equivalent to the “National &/or USA” club division in club.ment environment. For programs/teams seeking reps in a competitive tournament environment.
Freshman	One division for all Freshmen teams as we enter our second year of offering a Freshmen division.
